The Chinese word "Qing Ming Jie" translates to "Festival of Pure Light," which is why the Day of Remembrance for the Deceased is also known as the Day of Purity and Clarity of Mind.
Qing Ming festival is observed on the 104th day after the winter solstice or the 15th day after the spring equinox. It usually falls on the first few days of April. In 2024, it will be celebrated on April 4th.
Many Chinese people burn ritual money, model cars, clothes, and food at gravesites. It is believed that everything burned will go to the afterlife and help the deceased.
